hi i bought a laptop from a school that upgraded as did my mom and when we got them home we couldnt get into it becuase we didnt have the username and password,comp uas said either reinstall windows, get the recovery cds from ibm or contat the school you got it from. i havent installed windows but i did contact ibm could send me recovery disks for it but it was for oper. system windows me edition which is what was on it i guess when they bought it, well in the meantime someone put windows xp pro on it, i called the school who said we wipe it clean and and basically leave it with just what you would need to run it and then you can install things as you please and customize it yourself, well i then asked why is the login still there than? he know what school it came from since it was a distrcit sale so i cannot tell you why they didnt take it off. i used loginrecvoery.com but im waiting for them to decode, but does it work? i dont want to pay to get it in 10 mins and it doesnt work

take your recovery cd put it in the cd tray and restart the computer. it would then guide you to windows installation part--read instuction and dont try recover go to the part where you format the disk(that is erase everything) and then everything is automatic
