Computor keeps crashing on "Call of Duty 2" need help!?

Mother Board= abit VT7

Chip= P4 3.00 HT GHZ

Graphics card= ATI 9600 XT

Oper System= Windows XP

Ram= 1.00 GHZ DDR

Anyway my question is when i am running the video game Call Of Duty 2, or any other game the screen always goes black then crashes in the middle of the game. do I need to get a sound card if so which one. could not having a sound card just running the stock motherboard sound cause games to crash also if anybody has any "detailed" tips on how to fix this problem please help me!!!

I've had problems like this with my friends computer.

99% of the time the problem is drivers for your hard-ware. You need to update your drivers for all your hardware including:

graphics card

motherboard

sound blaster

directx

anything else you can think of

If you don't know the name of your motherboard or sound blaster, consult the box that came with your computer, or examine the inside of your case.

I gaurantee once you update the drivers for everything it will work again.

make sure your running the correct directx version also it would be good to see if your grpahics card manufacturer has software updates.
